1. Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary

Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary protects deodar and pine forest, and it is on the way to Khajjiar. Its wildlife includes the Himalayan black bear, leopard, barking deer, goral and serow. Birdlife includes the Himalayan monal and the kalij pheasant. Sightings are never guaranteed, so go for the walk, not the checklist. A forest permit may apply on some routes, so confirm with the Forest Department first. Read our full Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary guide.
2. Mall Road
Mall Road is the town’s main market and evening walk. Go in the late afternoon, eat early and head back before dark. If you want to bring something home, see our guide to shopping in Dalhousie.
3. Panchpula
Panchpula is a short stop known for its stream and spring water. Wear shoes with grip, because the rocks near the water are slippery, especially after rain.
4. Subhash Baoli
Subhash Baoli is a natural spring close to the town centre. It is linked to Subhas Chandra Bose, who stayed in Dalhousie in 1937 to recover his health, and it is said the spring water helped him. It takes little time, so pair it with Mall Road.
5. Satdhara Falls
Satdhara means seven springs, and it sits right next to Panchpula. Locals say the water has healing powers, often put down to a mineral called mica. Treat that as folklore, and visit for the walk and the sound of water.
6. Bakrota Hills
Bakrota Hills sit just outside the town centre. Walk here at dawn for hill views, and take care on the path when dew makes it slippery.

7. Dainkund Peak

Dainkund is the highest point in the Dalhousie region, known locally as the Singing Hill because of the sound the wind makes across the ridge. It is about 1 hour from Eva Cabins, so it works well as a half-day trip or a sunrise outing. Reach it before dawn to catch first light, and carry a warm layer. For more viewpoints, see our guide to sunrise and sunset points in Dalhousie.
8. Khajjiar

Khajjiar is a wide green meadow with a small lake, ringed by tall cedar forest. It is about 1 hour 15 minutes from Eva Cabins, so plan a full day. Activities such as paragliding, horse riding and zorbing are offered, depending on season. It gets crowded, so arrive before 7:00 AM if you want the meadow quiet.
9. Chamera Lake

Chamera Lake is a reservoir on the Ravi River, about 38 minutes from Eva Cabins, which makes it the closest of our day trips. Boating depends on weather and operators, so confirm timings locally. The best months are March to June and September to November. Drive times are approximate, and roads and weather can change them. Read our Chamera Lake travel guide.
10. Chamba town
Chamba is the longest day trip on this list. Visit its old temples, the Bhuri Singh Museum and the Chamunda Devi Temple. If you enjoy nature more than towns, see our guides to hidden waterfalls in Chamba district and treks in Chamba district.
